LANA Danish Wool Nursing Pads
Every nursing mother wants breastfeeding to be a positive experience for her and her baby. These incredibly soft and soothingly comfortable nursing pads provide the best conditions for successful breastfeeding.
- Most women need only 2 pairs for the entire nursing period. When one pair feels wet, let it dry while wearing the second pair. Ideally, lay them to dry over a mild heat source, such as a running dryer or mildly warm radiator, especially in humid climates. Lanolin's cleansing properties keep the wool fresh and hygienic.
- The wool can absorb up to 40% of its weight without feeling wet. When the pads do feel wet, they're warm, not cold and clammy as with cotton or disposable pads.
- We stock the Softline pads. If you have more than moderate leakage, you may prefer the Original pads, or for women with extra strong "let-down" reflexes or heavy leakage, an Ekstra style is available with an extra layer of felted wool. These are available by special order - please contact me.
- Your skin is kept dry and able to breathe, allowing sore nipples to heal.
- Scandinavian midwives have, for centuries, advised mothers to protect their breasts from wind and cold to prevent plugged ducts and mastitis. The large size of the pads gives protective coverage over a greater portion of the breast.
- Wash as seldom as possible, only when pads begin to feel "stiff" or if you notice white powdery milk spots. When needed, wash by hand in lukewarm water with LANA 20% Lanolin-Soap. LANA's lanolin-replenishing soap has a much higher lanolin content than most other wool-washes and will keep your pads feeling soft and soothing.

NOTE ON SIZING : Many women are surprised by how large the pads are, compared to the familiar disposable or cotton pads. This is because the wool is intended to provide more benefits than simply absorbing milk. Scandinavians have, for centuries, felt that protecting your breasts from wind and cold can help prevent plugged ducts and mastitis. To be certain the size you order is what you'd like, please note the measurements of each size and gauge against your breast/bra. Certain bra styles may work best with smaller sizes than the specifications above. Most women prefer either the small or x-small, but if you struggle with mastitis and wear a D cup or larger, I recommend medium.

The adhesive is gentle on your skin.* Simply wash with mild soap and water, rinse and air dry before reapplying.
*some women may experience mild irritation when using LilyPadz for the first time. This should disappear after repeated use.
Be sure to have your breast pads ready to use as soon as your milk comes in.
Application instructions:
Simply place the LilyPadz over your nipple with the tacky side toward your skin. Press the center of the LilyPadz onto the nipple and smooth out over your breast. Just lift off the LilyPadz to nurse your baby and then re-apply after feeding. Don't worry, the mild-adhesive lining is gentle on your skin.

Hemp Nursing Pads

Wonderful hemp jersey nursing pads. Four layers thick for excellent absorption. Each pad is 4 inches in diameter to provide full protection.
The hemp fabric has been pre-washed prior to construction, but as with all hemp, needs a full 6-8 washings to achieve full absorbency levels.
